Graduation Application and Ceremony Attendance

Students are required to apply for graduation before the published deadlines. The application for graduation is filed with the Office of Admissions and Records. Degrees or Certificates may be awarded and posted on the student’s transcript when earned even though graduation was not applied for by the student. Candidates for a degree or certificate of twenty-four (24) or more semester credit hours or THECB approved Continuing Education programs are expected to attend commencement exercises. Skill certificate graduates from programs of less than 24 semester credit hours are not eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. Since there is no commencement ceremony for August or December, diplomas are available approximately eight to ten weeks after the graduation date.  Official diplomas are not distributed at the graduation ceremony because certification of graduates does not occur until after the formal graduation ceremony.
