The library supports the institutional purpose of Vernon College by providing the learning resources needed the meet the informational needs of all students, faculty, and staff.

Print and E-book Collections: Students may search the library’s online catalog for print and e-books located within the Vernon College Library System. E-books can be checked-out and downloaded to an iPad, PC, or other personal device. Book collections include reference materials as well as general circulating titles supporting all academic areas. Distance learners and students attending STC or CCC can request books from the main collection on the Vernon campus.  Requests can be filed online via the Interlibrary Loan request form Students may also submit an interlibrary loan request to obtain books and other materials unavailable within the Vernon College Library System.

Off-Campus Access to Databases: Remote research options are essential in meeting the informational needs of all Vernon College students. The Library’s databases provide full text access to journals, newspaper articles, reference materials, career resources and other information sources off-campus from any Internet connection. Databases are accessible via the “Articles” link on the library homepage. Students can login with their VC student ID number and “PIN” to search the databases remotely.  Computer workstations facilitate online research, word processing applications, and online testing through the Respondus Lockdown Browser.   

Library Assistance:  Library assistance is available via email (librarian@vernoncollege.edu), live chat, and online orientations scheduled weekly.  Orientations are designed to assist students in accessing and searching the library’s electronic resources.  Students can view a schedule and register via the online form.  Library assistance is also available via research guides and online tutorials accessible via the Research Assistance link on the library homepage.  

Learning Spaces:  A variety of learning spaces are available to accommodate student preferences.  Learning spaces include leisurely seating areas and group study rooms in Vernon and at CCC.  Group study rooms can be reserved by contacting the library staff by phone or email.  

Tex-Share Card Program: A TexShare Card entitles the holder to borrowing privileges and services offered at participating academic and public libraries throughout Texas including the Moffett Library at Midwestern State University. Students may request a card at any Vernon College library location.

Convenient Hours of Operation:  The library maintains flexible scheduling to accommodate students’ busy schedules.  Hours are scheduled on weeknights and on weekends throughout the academic year. Please refer to the library homepage for current hours of operation.
