Massage Therapy

Certificate of Completion 
The Massage Therapy program is a 9-month program consisting of 10 courses and 572 hours.  This program will allow students to participate in a hands on experience leading to a flexible work schedule in a client-focused practice that promotes good health and well-being. It is incredibly rewarding to offer patients/clients immediate relief from pain associated stress, injury and illness as well as promote general wellness. These classes are offered through the Continuing Education Department and offered as a 3-semester program. Upon successful completion students will be eligible to sit for the Texas state exam through TDLR.

Upon completion students will find they are qualified to find careers in healthcare, sports medicine or fitness and stress management areas. Students may find themselves in specific facilities such as: spas, franchised clinics, physician’s offices, hotels, and fitness centers.

Registration Procedures
Enrollment is limited to 12 students per year.  Application packets and schedules can be found 
at the Vernon College Continuing Education Office or online at www.vernoncollege.edu/CE/ (under Fast Track Careers.) Students will complete the registration process once accepted into the program. Tuition payment will be due at the time of registration. The deadlines for registration will be set upon approval of the application. 

Program Requirements
1. Complete and submit the application packet for the Massage Therapy Program. 
2. Provide High School Diploma or GED 
3. Provide Background screen 
4. Provide Drug Screen 
5. Provide evidence that the following immunization must be met prior to enrollment in the Massage Therapy Program: tetanus/diphtheria toxoid (within the last 10 years), measles, mumps, rubella (2 doses), Varicella (2 doses), and Hepatitis B (three doses). Bacterial Meningitis vaccination is also required for students younger than 22 years of age. (Read the vaccine requirement and exemptions on the VC website.)
6. Once all forms have been completed, an interview process will take place with the Coordinator of  Community and Recreational Services.
