The Library supports the institutional purpose of VC by providing the learning resources needed to meet the informational needs of all students, faculty, and staff.

Print and E-book Collections: Books are available to support all VC programs and disciplines.  Books are accessible from the library catalog.   Online, dual credit, STC, and CCC students can use the library’s online form to request books from the main collection on the Vernon Campus. The library also maintains a comprehensive collection of e-books accessible through the library catalog.  E-books can be checked-out and downloaded to a PC, iPad, or other personal device.  Students may also submit an interlibrary loan request to obtain books and other materials unavailable within the VC Library System.

Off-Campus Access to Databases:  Remote research options are essential in meeting the informational needs of all VC students. The Library’s databases provide full text access to journals, newspaper articles, career resources, and other informational sources off-campus from any Internet connection. Databases are accessible via the “Articles” link on the library homepage. To access databases remotely, students are asked to log-in with their VC student ID numbers and four-digit PIN’s (without typing Chaps with the number). Computer workstations facilitate online research, word processing applications, and online testing through the Respondus Lockdown Browser.

Library Assistance:  Library assistance is available via email (librarian@vernoncollege.edu), live chat, and online orientations scheduled weekly. Orientations are designed to assist students in accessing and searching the library’s electronic resources.  Students can view a schedule and register via the online form. Library assistance is also available via research guides and online tutorials accessible via the Research Assistance link on the library homepage.

TexShare Card Program: A TexShare Card entitles the holder to borrowing privileges at participating academic and public libraries throughout Texas including the Moffett Library at Midwestern State University. Students may request a card at any VC library location.

Learning Spaces:   A variety of learning spaces are available to accommodate student preferences.  Learning spaces include leisurely seating areas and group study rooms.

Convenient Hours of Operation:  The library maintains flexible scheduling to accommodate students’ busy schedules.  Hours are scheduled on weeknights and on weekends.
