Court reporters are highly trained professionals who share a unique ability to convert the spoken word into information that can be read, searched and archived. Court reporters, also known as guardians of the record because of their impartiality and role within the judicial process, capture the words spoken by everyone during a court or deposition proceeding. Court reporters then prepare verbatim transcripts of proceedings.   Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Texas Court Reporters Association certification exam.  Court reporters can be Courtroom Court Reporters, Freelance reporters, Broadcast captioners, Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) providers. This program is offered online only and will consist of six modules. Students must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
